PRAYER SERVICE TONIGHT FOR BEN SPIRIT TRACK. BELIEVING FOR COMPLETE AND TOTAL HEALING OF COLON CANCER. GOD IS FAITHFUL!
Well, we finally got our first real snow for the winter and it's that time of the year to begin making plans for the Summer Outreaches!
Thus far we have three weeks scheduled beginning with Harry and Mary Hartzler bringing their group from Gunn City, MO their ninth year. We look forward to what God has planned and we have some very special outreaches planned. This year we will NOT be hosting the "day in the park" as a community outreach; but other events planned. Keep checking back for more information and plans for the future.
HOPE HOUSE LODGE is going strong. We are on our second propane fill so please keep praying for finances. God is moving in the hearts of the men. Hope to get a few photos of Christmas as soon as possible.

Who We Are: Tim & Elaine Harris
The following is just a little about who we are and how we arrived where we are today.
We went to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in July of 1995 after resigning our pastorate in Cocoa, FL where we had served as Lead Pastors for ten years. Leaving our daughter, grand daughter, son, and a host of church family and friends was one of the most difficult things we have ever had to do to follow the calling of God. After Elaine spent months asking God, "Why are you doing this to me?", God replied back to her with, "I'm not doing this TO you, I'm doing this for the people I've chosen you to serve now!" What a statement!
Coming to Oglala, we knew no one and had no idea how to begin a ministry on the Rez. Tim would drive down Hwy 18 on a daily basis, praying and reaching out to those the Lord put in his path. On his way he would also pass by a particularly large, empty parcel of land in Oglala. This piece of land was just across the street from the main housing area.
In November 1997 the Holy Spirit moved Tim's heart to search out the owner of the property. After meeting with Levi Wounded's cousin, Barbara Dull Knife, they located the owner in Rushville, NE and were able to purchase 7 of the 73 acres which now sits between the two major housing areas in Oglala. We had a vision of something more than "just another church" in the neighborhood; our vision was of a building and ministry that would benefit and reach out to the whole community every day.
Finally the vision took shape and the building process began. Missionary and friend Mel Ericson was of great help in gathering work teams from all over the nation to do volunteer labor. By that time, a small church family had already been born and they spent many hours getting the rough land ready for building. MANY gave materials and time in order to see the vision become reality. In August 1997 the construction of an 8,000 sq foot facility was on the way. The dream was to build a gymnasium with a kitchen area, fellowship hall, bathrooms with showers, classroom space, and a 1,000 sq foot apartment; a multifunctional facility. The building was completed in March 1998 and is known today as the Oglala Re*Creation & Worship Center, or simply "The Rec". It serves the Lakota Oyate in whatever way needed. The main purpose being "A Light in the Darkness", the Rec team wants to shine God's Love into the community.
It is has been sixteen years now of full time Native Ministry. Not everything has been rose lined paths, but it has all been productive and positive. God has faithfully directed us with our missions statement "to provide opportunities for positive change" as this is what we have always yearned and prayed to see. Through the positive change, lives are turned around and people are meeting Jesus their "Heart Mender" in a real and powerful way!
After seeing God build the Oglala Re*Creation & Worship Center in Oglala, SD we received letters of "Commendation" from South Dakota's Attorney Generals' Office, US Senator Tim Johnson, Former US Attorney General Janet Reno and the US Department of Justice, AND the Lakota Sioux Tribal Council for our work with the Youth and Victims Advocates. In March of 1999 the construction of the Rec Center in Oglala was completed and the ministry work started expand. Since that time much has happened in Oglala (see their website). In 2001 we turned the leadership over to Pastors Eric Sutton and Leon Schwartz. During the past ten years, the ministry in Oglala has grown and flourished under their positive and healthy leadership. Since that time, a new gym has been built and is completely paid for. Just this summer, God miraculously brought in $30,000 for a new metal roof for the original gym building. They also got part of that old building remodeled into a beautiful new sanctuary. To God be all the Glory!
